Got good news!!!
Mar. 15th, 2012 09:08 pmMy first acceptance letters for college arrived today and yesterday!!! So far I have been accepted to Empire State, Westchester College and that strange LAC where I posted about earlier with the questions during the interview...
Three down, three more to go... I hope I will arrive soon, because I really want to know... And then I can start figuring out which college will be the best place for me to go... The LAC with the strange interview questions is pretty low on my list though...
Still... the idea of me going to college is still a little strange to me. I might be hard to imagine, but six years ago around this time I was still in Afghanistan... I didn't speak a word of English, couldn't read or write or do any form of arithmics. I had never studied any history or science.... But I have learned all of that since then... And now I am heading to college after the summer... With still so much to learn...
Six years ago I was not able to read, write and think about my own religion. I just did as I was told and as i was thought when I was a little girl. Thanks to my education, I can now read, write and think about this important part of my life...
If I had remained in Afghanistan, I would have been married with one or two kids already and probably one more on the way or nursing my latest one... It's almost impossible to imagine for me now, though it was very normal six years ago...
My mother is gonna be so enthousiastic though. She never knew I would able to gain such an education. It's almost a miracle to her and also a little for me...
